Uno spettacolare scatto aereo di una lingua di fuoco che lacera il paesaggio australiano ha vinto il premio People Choice, nel concorso Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

L'immagine scattata da un drone ritrae un incendio boschivo nel nord dell'Australia ed è di Robert Irwin, figlio dell'ambientalista Steve Irwin: ha ricevuto 55.486 voti da tutto il mondo, vincendo così l'annuale concorso internazionale del Natural History Museum.

Questo scatto e altri quattro sono stati scelti tra i preferiti tra le 25 immagini scelte su 49.000 proposte. Le cinque immagini saranno esposte fino al 1 agosto 2021 al Natural History Museum di Londra. Tra le quattro immagini molto apprezzate che hanno conquistato il pubblico ci sono il ritratto di Ami Vitale che ha immortalato il legame tra un ranger e un rinoceronte prima della morte dell'animale e lo scatto invernale di una lepre di montagna nel Parco nazionale di Cairngorms in Scozia di Andy Parkinson.
