    (ANSA-AFP) - Il chitarrista Gary Rossington, l'ultimo membro fondatore dei Lynyrd Skynyrd, è morto all'età di 71 anni. Lo ha annunciato la band americana, senza specificare le cause del decesso Gruppo southern rock, gli Skynyrd sono noti specialmente per le due canzoni cult 'Sweet Home Alabama' e 'Free Bird'.

     

    Rossington soffriva di problemi cardiaci e si era sottoposto a un intervento chirurgico al cuore d'urgenza nel 2021. Nato nel 1951 in Florida, aveva fondato i Lynyrd Skynyrd nel 1964 con il batterista Bob Burns e il bassista Larry Junstrom. Il suo assolo di chitarra in 'Free Bird', una canzone di quasi dieci minuti, è considerato uno dei più grandi nella storia del rock.
