Dopo quattordici anni, i Sopranos tornano sul grande schermo per il prequel della serie tv, “The Many Saints of Newark”. Ad interpretare il giovane Tony Soprano sarà il figlio di James Gandolfini, l’attore protagonista della serie tv morto nel 2013, Michael Gandolfini.
Il film della New Line Cinema e della Warner Bros Pictures è ambientato nel 1967. La trama: «Il giovane Anthony Soprano sta crescendo in una delle epoche più tumultuose della storia di Newark, diventando un uomo proprio mentre i gangster rivali iniziano a insorgere e a sfidare l'onnipotente famiglia criminale DiMeo sulla città sempre più dilaniata dalle razze».
«Coinvolto nei tempi che cambiano è lo zio, Dickie Moltisanti, che lotta per gestire le sue responsabilità sia professionali che personali - e la cui influenza sul nipote impressionabile contribuirà a trasformare l'adolescente nell'onnipotente boss mafioso che conosceremo in seguito: Tony Soprano».
Il creatore dei Soprano , David Chase, ha scritto il film insieme a Lawrence Konner. Il regista è Alan Taylor, lo stesso della serie tv.
