Altro che Venezia, i film sulla realtà, le riletture femministe, i film coi nonni diretti dai bisnonni, le mamme napoletane che cucinano tutto il tempo. Basta. E basta anche con questi draghi sputafuoco e le regine sanguinarie e i maschi tutti biondi che non capisci mai chi sono. 

Alla 78° edizione degli Emmy Awards stravince la serie più fantasiosa e più di genere, un po’ thriller, un po’ horror, un po’ fantasy considerata nella categoria Comedy Series, che dovreste vedere se non l’avete già vista, “Widow’s Bay” di Apple Tv+, 14 premi, a cominciare dal suo protagonista, Matthew Rhys, che fa la storia perché riceve ben due Emmys, come Lead Actor in una serie Comedy e Lead Actor in a Limited Series, per “The Beast in Me” di Netflix. Cosa mai accaduta prima.

O dagli strepitosi non-protagonisti Stephen Root e Kate O’Flynn. O dal regista ufficiale, Hiro Murai. Ma praticamente ha vinto tutto, 14 Emmys su 19 nominations. Grazie a questi 14 Emmys di “Widow’s Bay”, e ai 6 di “Pluribus”, ai 3 di “Margo’s Got Money Troubles “, Apple TV+ stravince in termini di premi la serata, aggiudicandosene ben 28 contro i 21 di HBO MAX o i 16 di Netflix o i 6 di Disney.

Per HBO Max, che aveva 128 candidature o per Netflix, che ne aveva 111, è un disastro, visto che Apple TV+ ne aveva solo 87, e di questi 19 erano proprio per “Widow’s Bay”. HBO Max si consola con i 6 premi per “The Pitt”, compreso quello per il suo protagonista, Noah Wyle, per i 7 di “DTF St. Louis”, per la Jean Smart di “Hacks”, che vince il suo quinto Emmy su 5 stagioni.

Ma se pensiamo a quello che ha perso con le stagioni un po’ inutili di “House of Dragon” o il disastro di “Half Man”, non ha tanto da festeggiare. Non vince nulla nemmeno la Zendaya dell’ultima stagione di “Euphoria”, come non vince nessun attore nero tra i candidati, nemmeno il grande Colman Domingo… Il “Super Bowl LX Halftime Show”, lo show con Bad Bunny che ha fatto la storia della tv di quest’anno, vince ben 7 Emmys.

E 6 per “The Late Show” presentato Stephen Colbert, e chiuso da Trump, nella categoria Outstanding Variety. Ma non mancherà il lavoro per Colbert e il suo staff. Lo stesso Colbert ha dichiarato che lo show degli Emmy è scritto anche dal suo capo-progetto. 5 Emmys per “Spider-Noir”, quando la serie è appena stata cancellata.

Vincono ovviamente la Rhea Seehorn come Lead Actress in a Drama per “Pluribus”, e il suo showrummner, Vince Gilligan, che non aveva mai vinto un Emmy, malgrado il successo di “Better Call Saul”. Un Emmy come Supporting Actress in a Drama alla grandiosa Allison Janney di “The Diplomat”, che arriva così a 8 Emmys. Due a Mariska Hargitay, autrice regista del documentario su sua madre Jayne Mansfield, “My Mom Jayne”, che ho visto a Cannes.
