1. YAHOO: LASCIA IL DIRETTORE OPERATIVO HENRIQUE DE CASTRO
(TMNews) Nell'ultimo anno Yahoo ha effettuato una serie di assunzioni ma ieri il gruppo internet ha perso uno dei manager chiave più vicini al numero uno Marissa Mayer.
Come emerge da un documento depositato presso la Securities and Exchange Commission, la Consob americana, il direttore operativo Henrique de Castro oggi lascerà la società.

Si tratta di colui che nell'ottobre del 2012 era stato ingaggiato dalla stessa Mayer con uno stipendio da almeno 60 milioni di dollari versabili nell'arco di quattro anni. Ha lavorato nel produttore di pc Dell e nella società di consulenza McKinsey prima di unirsi nel 2006 al team di Google, dove è stato vicepresidente della divisione "partner business solutions".

Yahoo ha detto che de Castro riceverà la sua buonauscita ma non ha spiegato il motivo del suo addio. Il gruppo non ha ancora scelto un sostituto. Lo scorso settembre ha strappato ad Aol Ned Brody, chiamato a guidare le attività pubblicitarie nelle Americhe. Brody riportava direttamente a de Castro.

Il valore delle azioni Yahoo è più che raddoppiato nell'ultimo anno ma il gruppo fatica a crescere sul fronte degli introiti da pubblicità. Nel terzo trimestre le vendite sono scese del 5% a 1,1 miliardi di dollari e l'utile operativo è calato di quasi due quinti a 93 milioni di dollari.

The beginning of a new year always provides time for reflection. As we enter 2014, I couldn't be more proud of what Yahoo accomplished in 2013 or more optimistic about what we'll accomplish in 2014. I want to thank all of you for being so engaged and so thoughtful around the direction of the company.

During my own reflection, I made the difficult decision that our COO, Henrique de Castro, should leave the company. I appreciate Henrique's contributions and wish him the best in his future endeavors.

Effective today, we will restructure the leadership of the operating organization as follows:

- Dawn Airey, John Devine, Ned Brody, and Rose Tsou will report directly to me.

- I've asked Kathy Savitt to lead our media and editorial functions.

- Several functions in the COO org align well with product initiatives in Mike Kern's Homepages & Verticals group and will report there moving forward.

We'll reach out to specific individuals on reporting changes. As always, there may be further changes to increase alignment and sharpen our media and product focus; those changes will be messaged within the affected groups.

Overall, I am confident that the leadership team, our direction, and these changes will enable even more successful execution. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through these changes.
