Ci chiedevamo ieri con un amico “ma che ascolto ha fatto The Young Pope su HBO” ?

Leggo sulla stampa italiana di un grande successo e di Homeland strapazzata (nuova stagione sulla concorrenza, Showtime). Boh. A leggere invece altro e altro ancora, non sembrerebbe sia stato un trionfo.

La storia di Homeland battuta mi sembra poi una bufala. Il primo episodio è stato offerto in anticipo online e io, come altri un milione e 250mila, l’ho visto prima della prima.

I numeri di The Young Pope si saranno gonfiati con la postvisione on demand e le repliche ma non li conosco. Questo accade sempre per le serie. Anche mentre scrivo i primi due episodi rivanno in onda su uno dei canali di HBO. Il secondo episodio in onda lunedi, dopo il primo di domenica, era sceso.

With two huge NFL telecasts on the broadcast networks, Sunday’s cable ratings didn’t provide much to get excited about.

“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” finished No. 1 among adults 18-49 again, although it was down slightly week to week at 1.0 (vs. 1.1 the previous week). Discovery’s “Alaska: The Last Frontier” led the total-viewer race for the day with 2.72 million.

HBO’s “The Young Pope” debuted outside the Top 100 with a 0.3 in adults 18-49 and 963,000 viewers. That’s a little better than “The Night Of” (0.3, 774,000) last summer but well below “Westworld’s” premiere in the fall (0.8, 1.96 million). Showtime’s “Homeland” premiere was also outside the Top 100 with a 0.3 and 1.08 million viewers, well below the 0.6 and 1.66 million for last season’s premiere.
