Os Gemeos ovvero i paulisti Gustavo e Otavio Pandolfo (nati nel 1974) star della cultura hip hop brasiliana fine anni 8O, hanno sempre lavorato insieme usando ogni tipo di tecnica dal disegno al murales. E dalla strada sono sbarcati al sistema “alto" dell'arte, entrando nel circuito del mercato e delle biennali.

Ecco quindi per la Biennale di Vancouver l'affresco applicato a sei enormi silos nella zona industriale della città. Un lavoro di arte pubblica a 360 gradi, alto 23 metri. Un murale che nel complesso misura 7200 metri quadri visibile dall'Università, dal pubblico mercato e dal pontile dei traghetti da dove sbarcano ogni anno 10 milioni di persone.

Il permesso è arrivato anche grazie al poetico testo in cui i due gemelli spiegano che ogni

“città ha bisogno di arte e l'arte ha bisogno di stare in mezzo alla gente”

"THE first challenge of this project was to find a location that would fit with our idea. We did not want a conventional two-dimensional wall that we had done before – we wanted something different, special and unique.

we have an ongoing project called ‘Giants’ tha thas been realized in several places in the world such as Greece, Usa, Poland, Portugal, the Netherlands, Brazil and England, and we will continue now in Canada, but with a difference.

As the proposed biennale has a strong connection with sculpture, we decided to find a place where the painting can be transformed, creating a dialogue between the two-dimensional and three-dimensional worlds.

Another aim of this project is to bring new characters to Vancouver while sharing perspectives and cultures and establishing a relationship between the people who frequent this site and integrate this work into the city scenery.
